Hello, readers!

One topic we rarely analyze is diabetes, which definitely touches all masses of people and families. This month’s ICAA Volume 8, No. 15 addresses a study of the link between monitoring your own glucose levels and developing a state of depression. This study, however, pertains to “non-insulin treated type 2 diabetes.” One thing I like to consider is this: monitoring is made much easier by new technological advances that make having diabetes less of a dreaded chore, especially for individuals forced to check glucose levels daily, as well as administer themselves daily shots of insulin. I encourage everyone to question medical service providers about new, more convenient methods and tools to treat his/her diabetes.

Also included in this issue:

1) “Eating regular meals lowers risk for metabolic syndrome”
2) “Hip and knee replacements rapidly increasing”
3) “Older adults receptive to personal monitoring technology”

Hello, readers!

This week we are going to take a moment to look at IHRSA’s Health eReview- Volume 4, Issue 6. On this site is all types of invaluable information that will help on our road to active fitness. For instance, I found the article regarding the positive effects of aerobic exercise on the human brain, even boosting the thought processes so that we might think more clearly. I definitely need to give that one a try! HAHA!

Like I said, just filter through the articles on this page until you find one that is really conducive to your own personal situation. There is a wealth of information available here. Just click on the reference link below to find out more about IHRSA:

Hello, everyone!

I think it is very important to periodically reinforce the benefits of hydraulic resistance equipment. Upon hearing the term “hydraulic,” I immediately think of the positive effects of swimming and/or any other form of fluid interval training. The key is the resistance provided by this type of exercise; we actually use our muscle tissues to displace the fluid in the circuit. This builds muscles in a much more effective manner than other types of workouts, which are often too strenuous on our muscles, doing more damage to our muscle tissue than good. Other types of workouts, therefore, are less effective, at times even dangerous, forms of workouts. Please keep these factors in mind… and always “tune in” to www.fitexpress.com to check out new lines of hydraulic equipment!

Hi, everyone!

I wanted to take the time to blog about an issue that is currently on my mind. This issue is seasonal illnesses, and I want to encourage all readers to put forth the extra effort to remain healthy. Seasons of sickness soon rear their ugly heads, with constant outbreaks of flu, sinus congestion, severe allergies, stomach viruses, etc. Unfortunately, any of us that work in the public arena are more susceptible to these illnesses. I suffered a stomach virus 2 weeks ago, and now trying to recuperate from a dreadful attack of sinus congestion and allergies. One suggestion I offer to colleagues is in the form of a Zinc vitamin, which builds a healthy immune system, equipping your body with a strong-hold defense against microscopic enemies. Of course, I always suggest that you consult your medical provider before making any such decisions. It is always better to be safe than sorry….

Thanks for reading, and if you feel like I have today, let’s both pray for a quick recovery!

Chris

Hello, readers!

I apologize for our blog’s absence over the past few months; the blog has been “down” due to recent technical issues. We are excited to have the blog back “up-&-running,” as I have missed reading and reporting about fitness-related issues. I learned a great deal about fitness in general, as well as fitness pertaining to specific age groups! I hope that we have all the technical issues obliterated, so that we may continue in our quest to achieve a more healthy state of life.

Where else better to start than another newsletter published by our pals at ICAA. Issues being tackled in this month’s issue consist of:

1) “More bad news from obesity: dementia and disability”
2) “Older Americans spend time with the television”
3) “Is technology a key to aging in place?”

….. And many more! Just click on the reference link below to access the article:

Happy 2008 to everyone!

I hope the New Year finds everyone happy and contented so far. The main thing I am trying desperately to maintain is my resolution to make 2008 my healthiest year yet. So far, things are working out great! I am continuing to utilize my new piece of equipment, even to the point of dropping a pound or two! Also, the resistance of the machinery seems to build my legs and calves, areas on which I have desperately needed work. Therefore, I plan to hang in there, and achieve as much as I can! Please do the same; the resolution to get and stay fit just may be the most important decision you ever make.

Good luck,

Chris

Hello, everyone!
I hope this entry finds everyone in good spirits after the holiday season. Now, it is time to focus upon the upcoming “New Year” holiday celebration. I, in fact, received a gift from my family that “jump-started” my enthusiasm regarding new year resolutions. My family gave me a piece of fitness equipment, more specifically one of Fit Express’ wonderful exercise bikes. I am quite excited about dedicating my new year to staying fit. Let us all make new year resolutions that, in some sense, benefit our health and fitness.

Feel free to comment on your own new year resolutions,
Chris

Hi, everyone!

I hope that everyone is ready for a great holiday season. This is a season for much excitement, family “get-togethers”, and social functions. The one negative aspect is, however, that many of us (including myself) choose to over-indulge in the food department. I don’t know if you all agree, but this annual slack in health awareness seems almost instilled within me. I tend to diet, exercise, etc., throughout the year, and save my poor dietary habits for the holiday season. It seems almost as though I treating myself to a holiday gift from myself. I think this is a good topic for us to discuss with the holiday season on our heels. Please feel free to comment and add personal experiences of your own, for that is what this blog is for: to be informative.

We, at Fit Express, wish all of our readers and customers only the best holiday season ever!
Chris

Hello, readers!

I just wanted to drop by and present you with another informative tidbit distributed by ICAA concerning seniors. It actually explores the physical functioning of senior citizens, in fact associating this with mental, emotional, as well as other forms of functioning. It is meant to exhibit how physical activity can stimulate these factors!
