I’ve mentioned it before on this site, but I just found another article that reminded me just how important exercise is. Not only will exercising consistently help keep you at a healthy body weight, but repeated research is finding that the more you exercise, the better shape your brain will be in as well.
That’s right, repeated daily exercise can significantly increase your chances of avoiding dementia. How, you may ask? Simple, the more you exercise, the less chance you have of minor repeated strokes over a lifetime; the fewer minor strokes you have, the less likely you are to have any form of dementia or brain related disorders. Second, higher amounts of exercise also lead to much smaller chances of getting Alzheimer’s; another leading cause in dementia.
So, whatever way you want to stack it, exercising helps your noggin too. By exercising 30 minutes a day, you can almost guarantee yourself that later in life, you won’t ever have to worry about brain related disorders like dementia and Alzheimer’s. Now THAT is news we can all really benefit from. Come to Fit Express, give us 3o minutes a day, and you can thank us Much later in life; you’ll actually be able to remember to do it.

The final post of the evening is an important one; it shows the causes and risks of people’s lifestyles in relation to cancer. Cancer, folks, is scary and it’s far too widespread in this world. If we can all just make positive little changes to our daily habits, perhaps we can lower the already too high numbers.
The article mentions that physical activity is one of the easiest, and best ways to reduce your risk for getting any kind of cancer. It’s quick to say that inactivity can lead to obesity, and all too often, obesity leads to a whole slew of cancers.
Tobacco, genetics, unsafe sex and sun exposure are all mentioned as other ways to increase your risk. If all it takes to help reduce your chances of getting cancer is the 30 minutes a day of exercise that the article, and of course I, recommend, then how can you not do it? 30 minutes man, too easy.

Well, it’s lunch time in a lot of the country, so I think an appropriate post is something concerning ways to stay fit during lunch time, when time is short, and your appetite is huge.
Anyways, I just found an article about just that, ways to stay fit and maintain your healthy lifestyle during the 30 minutes to an hour you have off in the heart of the day. There are many ways to do it, many things you can squeeze into your break that will ensure you will maintain the health that you’ve been working so hard up to this point to reach.
Go check out the article, and then realize this…if you have an hour lunch, you could use 30 minutes of it at Fit Express, completing a circuit training routine using hydraulic resistance machines, and Still have another half hour off to eat, relax, and rehydrate. Oops, there went another excuse as to why you can’t work out during the day!

Well, the folks at WebMD are reporting that the USDA officially launched a brand new, new fangled, and hopefully helpful Food Pyramid aimed directly at the youth of this fine country.
According to the article, the new pyramid is designed to get more kids interested in maintaining a healthy diet, and learning how important a balanced diet and consistent exercise really is for a lifetime of health.
The main ideas the pyramid is striving to get across are these:
Go check out the new pyramid, and then come back to Fit Express to get the first of the pyramid’s “building blocks” taken care of. 30 minutes a day with hydraulic resistance and circuit training and you’ll get into the best shape of your life. Trust me, cause trusting me is fun.

From now on, nutrition answers are only a mouse click away from anyone wanting to learn more about how to maintain a healthy diet. According to the article up at MSN Health, the American Institute for Cancer Research is now hosting a nutritional hotline with registered dietitians to answer any and all questions you may have.
A healthy diet is vital to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and I think it’s great that the AICR is doing something about it. The more people, companies, and organizations that take a vested interest in the well being of our population, the better.
Go check it out, ask a question or two, then come back to Fit Express and ask us a question or two.

As you all well know, exercise is one of the absolute best ways to control the negative aspects of diabetes. If you already do have it, exercise and a healthy lifestyle can be instrumental in keeping the symptoms in check; if you don’t already have it, it can be equally as instrumental in preventing it. So what do you do when you have it, and something really bad, like peripheral neuropathy sets in?
According to the article I just read, when peripheral neuropathy sets in, which is nerve damage to the feet and hands that affects about 15% of the over 18 million people that have diabetes, exercise can be extremely difficult, and a lot of people stop it completely. This article says you don’t have to.
The article is extremely informative and goes through what you should do for every ailment that the peripheral neuropathy can present to you. From what to do when your hands and feet go numb, to what to do when you have foot ulcers or other issues. This says you Can, and Should exercise. The key, is doing things that don’t hurt. That’s why I think Fit Express is so brilliant. With no risk of injury, no weights to drop on your feet, and no residual pain afterwards, you can get in and stay in shape without injuring yourself, or making your life and mobility even worse.

This article has absolutely nothing to do with exercising, and that’s ok. What it DOES have to do with, however, is the other half of a healthy lifestyle…diet and maintaining healthy eating habits.
I’ve mentioned it 1,000 times, but eating healthy really does make it easier to stay healthy. It helps your body maintain a healthy weight, helps give you more fuel to work out more efficiently, and keeps your body lean and tone.
At any rate, the article is awesome because it breaks the foods down into categories, and tells the healthiest of each. If you could start implementing each into your diet with increased frequency, you’d be the better for it. So, head over, read the article, and then come back to Fit Express so we can take care of the Other half of your healthy lifestyle, the fitness.

Our friends over at PRWeb have an awesome article up about how the food pyramid, recently revamped, needs a heck of a lot more than just tipping it on its side, and splashing some fancy color onto it.
With experts continuously at odds on how to help our children grow up healthy, stay healthy, and in turn, let their children grow up healthy, it’s clear that a lot more guidance is needed. When it comes to food, exercise, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, I’m in agreeance that I think more people are willing to listen, if given some good solid advice on how to do those things.
New research is showing that in addition to not eating properly, obese children are not exercising And lacking nutrients. Go read the article, take what you will from it, and remember one thing…to REALLY make a change you have to get those kids exercising. Introduce them to circuit training, get them using hydraulic resistance training at Fit Express. Do your part.

At any rate, the “event” in question, is a week long campaign called the “You Can” campaign and is designed to try to reach 2 million senior citizens and get as many people as possible to focus on important nutrition, and physical activity choices.
What a great idea. I absolutely love to see when any sort of campaign, festival, or event is created with health and fitness in mind.
