People are weird. I’m a person, so yes, I too am weird. The article I just read reinforced that; apparently, research being conducted is now showing that larger portion sizes of Any food, even foods people may not even like, push people to eating more of it.
In one study done, boxes of 14-day old popcorn were given to participants; those who received the large boxes ate almost 35% more than those who had the medium boxes. When the popcorn was exchanged for fresh popped corn, the large container people ate 45% more. Wow.
Scientists are now saying that portion size can influence how much you eat just as much as the taste of the food. While this is dangerous for unhealthy foods, it can be helpful for healthy ones; eat the large bowl of carrots instead of the small one!

Scientists in the U.K. have apparently found the exact area of the brain responsible for how we perceive our body weight; whether that means we think we’re thinner when we’re fatter, or fatter when we’re thinner.
The area in the brain is called the posterior parietal cortex which sits at the side of the head, just above the ear and the scientists found that those people who have trouble judging their body size, have distorted representations due to this area.
This could be excellent research in the areas of anorexia or body dysmorphic disorder, but it also could help a great deal with people who don’t perceive their obesity a problem, or see themselves as thinner than they actually are. I’ll keep an eye on this research, it could get a lot more useful! For now, come to Fit Express, and stay physically healthy, no matter what your body looks like.

If you’re a regular at this blog, and I hope I have some regulars, you’ll know that at this point, having yet another reason why avoiding obesity is a good idea, probably isn’t necessary. Rest assured, however, that I’ll keep giving you them!
Today’s reason, studies are finding that obese patients, especially women, who have a lot of fat on their buttocks, may be in need of much longer needles than the average person; why? You see, for the injections to be effective, they must reach the muscle, and when people have layers of fat covering that, the medicine isn’t getting there, and therefore isn’t doing anything at all.
Read the article, it’s really informative, and should spook you enough into dropping the extra fat weight if you in fact have any. I can’t stress this enough, nothing I talk about on this site has anything to do with how your body looks, it’s all about health, so get healthy!

Wow. That’s all I can say. A new study done by the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, has found that now, doctors are providing obesity counseling for young patients at a threefold increase from any previous number. Wow.
While it is good to see that more children are being pro-active, or their parents are, and getting counseling for this, it is NOT good to see that there are that many children that need the counseling in the first place!
It’s no secret that childhood obesity rates are rising rapidly, and rapidly going through the roof. Something needs to be done, more people need to get pro-active before it’s too late. That means prescribing exercise, not counseling to keep your kid healthy before it gets to the point where counseling is even necessary. Come to Fit Express, talk to us about our hydraulic resistance equipment, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised what we can do for you!

Well, this actually makes quite a bit of sense. Turns out, those affected and plagued by obesity are not entirely to blame for not being able to keep the weight off after they finally lose it. According to studies, the muscles in obese people are “genetically programmed” to amass fat once obesity is reached.
Translation: Once they get the fat, it’ll be a lot easier to get it back. FRET NOT friends, because this is a changeable infliction. This “metabolic memory” of your muscle cells can be changed…how? EXERCISE. That’s right, by exercising daily it retrains your muscles to Burn fat, not collect it. This is also important for Type 2 Diabetes, the study found.
Moral time: No matter what your current body weight is, obese or thin, keep exercising. The benefits far, far outweigh the annoyances of exercising. Every excuse has pretty much been covered on this site, so get on the ball.

With Thanksgiving in the books, and Black Friday come and gone, we’re officially in the “Holiday Realm” where snacking, shopping, candy canes, and just plain business takes over. The article I just read tells just why you shouldn’t give up on your exercise routine this holiday season.
With 1/3 of all cancer deaths each year coming at the expense of being overweight or obese, clearly some people didn’t get the memo about how important exercise is. The article mentions a Curves fitness chain, but you know what, why go to Curves when you can come to Fit Express, get the best 30 minute workout of your life, AND talk to someone about either putting the revolutionary equipment in your own club, or starting up a new one!
Anyhow, 30 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week, start exercising, and don’t stop, I don’t care how good the candy canes are.

See, more proof. How cool is it when you find backup information to the already backed up information? Very cool my friends, very cool. I just found an article that talks about how exercising daily, can completely help diabetic people control their blood sugar.
Since starting this job, and doing all of the research that I do, I really can not imagine how a diabetic can get through life WITHOUT exercising. Every article I read tells about the extreme and amazing benefits of exercise in reducing the negative aspects of the disease, so I can’t fathom how people get through it without it.
Anyway, get moving, get exercising, and get control of that blood sugar. Exercise is your secret weapon, so I think it’s time to bring it out.
